I am looking for an ID so please comment if you have an idea. At this point, I think it is a form of hyacinth gone feral. This image was shot April 3, 2009, so it’s an early bloomer.
UPDATE April 2013: No longer unidentified! In my spring travels so far this year I’ve noted an abundance of these flowers on lawns all over town, hence clearly of a garden origin. A few well placed searched terms and the answer is Chionodoxa sardensis. Native to Turkey, it is also known as Glory of the Snow. I wasn’t far off. In some classification systems it is part of the hyacinth family.
