These portraits of Ann are an example of some of my earlier work, but in truth, they are not “date-able” in the sense that the original photographs were taken in the early 90’s with an old Pentax K1000 and some ten years later digitally scanned and “painted”. The scans were of negatives and in general terrible quality. The ensuing images, though, are so interesting to me, that even now, after another 10 years or so, I still want to include them in my portfolio of work. What this shows, I think, is that, in the digital age no piece of art is really ever finished. There are at least two other scanned images of Ann from that time period that are calling me to create something out of them. When was the original work completed? If I “paint” those images now, the creation of them will have spanned over 20 years. Really cool!
